Spiel Essen 2019 – Tembo Games

My Spanish brother from another mother, mister Alvaro. Head of all departments of Tembo Games drove with his team all the way from Santander in the North of Spain to Essen Germany in a camper fully packed with copies of Kaboom Universe and Back to the Jungle to attend Spiel. Only by doing that, I must say I adore him even more.

Not only for that I like the games of Tembo Games and the man with the best accent in the world. Oh no, ladies and Gentleman, their games are also fucking hilarious and will bring laughter to your table. Our coincidental meeting last year, was a great one, so you all must understand I looked forward to meet with them again.

For this year, Alvaro brought their latest game, Back in the Jungle. This is a memory chess like game in where you are a scientist and you have to let your Chameleon Back to the Jungle. Only the pieces are blinded chips and they often switch places. If that isn’t enough for you, in that jungle it is all about eating or being eating. As a good sales man, Alvaro have been eaten by the snake like five times and let me win.

It was good to see Alvaro and his team again. It has been again good laughter and he even made time for me while he was actually heading for another meeting. I feel like you can drink a cervaza or two with this good people and I hope next year we are going to make some time for that! The game itself is once again a fun game and compared to Kaboom this one need quite some more thinking and strategy. Also, the rules are easy to pick up and the game is set for six-year-old, so I could play this with my kids. After playing it I wanted to play again and that is a good thing!
