Spiel Essen 2019 – Keep Exploring Games

Last year I helped out at the Keep Exploring Games booth with demoing Dutch East Indies and Tikal, that was a fun and learning experience for me. This year I decided to fully focus on our Spiel coverage and I only visited Keep Exploring Games to say hi to Martin and his wonderful demo team. While I was there, why not play one of their new games!

Keep Exploring Games came to Spiel with two new boardgames and an expansion for Dutch East Indies. The last one gets the additional name: Adventures on the High Sea and features six new modules to spice up the base game Dutch East Indies.

For their other games Keep Exploring Games collaborates once again with Super Meeple and bring the updated version of “Spiel des Jahres” winner, Mississippi Queen and the brand new Old Masters (alternative name Colors of Paris) to the European markets. The designer of Mississippi Queen, Werner Hodel came down to the booth on Friday to sign a few copies, how cool is that. Not that cool, because Wolfgang Kramer, co-designer of the Mask Trilogy was also invited to make the party complete.

But back to the games, Mississippi Queen is a Pick-up and Deliver racing game set on the Mississippi River including with them well known Radar boats. Old Masters was something I was very interested in and I was happy to try it. You are a painter and you try to gather your supplies to create your masterpiece. All done, in a really nice and colorful worker placement game.

Well you can see on the last photo and need no further explanation. How great the games are of Keep Exploring Games and how much the demo team likes to show them to the Spiel audience!
