Spiel Essen 2019 – Game Brewer

There is something about the games of Game Brewer that I like very much. They are colorful, good to pick up and still have enough gameplay to have a great time. For this year’s Spiel our Belgium friends not only bring board games to Essen, no that was not enough for them, they brought a Belgium bar with them including some good tasting Belgium beers. I want to marry Game Brewer now!

I shouldn’t let my opinion become blurry by all them delicious triple beers. Lucky for me, I have a strong will and I was able to look further than the Belgium Bar to all them nice looking games. For example, I’ve seen the more final version of the expansion for Gùgōng: Pànjūn. Together with the freaking awesome velvet covered Deluxe Big Box for the base game and expansion.

The retail version of Fuji Koro was available to play and to buy at the fair and made a really nice presence on the demo tables. What an astonishing good looking game and it loves the camera, or at least my camera loves Fuji Koro. Together with a great gameplay they have another bestseller on hand.

One other upcoming and brand new title is Paris from the designers Michael Kiesling and Wolfgang Kramer, so with such designers I was very curious to the game. From what I have seen this is going to be a solid Kiesling Kramer Euro game, with straightforward gameplay in a Parisian setting. It’s all about getting the right buildings on the best locations in the city.

My only downside to this prototype is the artwork is not as bright and colorful as what I normally expect from Game Brewer, but it was only a prototype and the artwork isn’t finished yet, so I am looking forward to this one and all other games Game Brewer is going to publish coming year and I am even more curious to their last year created little sister company Amuza and what they are going to bring to the markets, as they are going to be more focusing on family games.
