Spiel.Digital – HeidelBÄR Games

For our last game of the evening and Spiel.Digital we visited the discord of HeidelBÄR Games to see if we could play a game. Completely exhausted from the Spiel.Digital and with an almost empty fridge, we pulled open our last bottles of special beer and toasted on the great weekend we had. The last game we played was Caretos and to make everything even more awesome, I won that last game we played on Spiel Essen 2020.

HeidelBÄR Games had a very nice and full discord channel, with a lot of games to play and get explained. We chose Caretos and another player joined the game quickly. With time flying by and it was getting later, our demo guy Bastiaan decided we started the game, as nobody was intending to join anymore.

Careto is an old North Portuguese religious ritual and Caretos are masked young men traditionally dressed in colorful suits to scare the villagers. Players control a team of two Portuguese monsters and you have to haunt villagers outside the villages and once outside the village you try to catch them, but all players can also control the Caretos in the game and hunt your trustworthy monsters down.

Caretos was our last game of Spiel.Digital, but it wasn't the only game we played from HeidelBÄR Games. Earlier we played Anansi and Coyote, both card games with some great art on the cards. Anansi is a trick taking game and Coyote a bluffing game.

After the game, the three of us stayed for a little while longer in the voice channel and chatted about Caretos and of course about Spiel.Digital. How we experienced it, what we liked and what we didn't like. About earlier years and very important how much we are looking forward to hopefully travel to Essen next year to enjoy another edition of Spiel.
