Spiel.Digital – Ludonova

Ludonova was a publisher I wasn't really familiar with until I had seen Polynesia in between the new releases lists this year. With the easy going Friday morning going into the afternoon, I asked if we could join a game of Polynesia and a friendly lady called Lisa guided us to one of their virtual tables. Little did I know Ludonova had more fun games, with tropical names... and non tropical names.

Starting with the one game I already had on my Radar, Polynesia. Just like a normal Spiel, we waited a little, for if other people wanted to join our table. We started our game with a short explanation from Lisa and soon we are sailing around the tropical islands and archipelagos of Polynesia. Aim of the game is to get your tribe away from the volcano on the main island, collecting Fish and Shells on new islands to offer to other tribes in exchange for their knowledge, and continue sailing in search of a safe place, all before that big volcano erupts.

Soon it gets cozier at the table and the game plays quick, which helps the good experience. Chatting about the convention and our experiences during the digital version of Spiel, our first game came to an end, another player at the table wanted to try Sumatra as well, of course I was happy to join such a game with again a tropical name. Plus, I liked playing a game with them, him and the demo lady Lisa, I enjoyed their company.

Sumatra is a game designed by Dr. Reiner Knizia including an island with a majestic volcano, but this time without the erupting part thank god! We were on expedition to find all kind of things and combined they grant you points in the end. A really nice puzzle game which help raise awareness of one of the richest ecosystems in the world.

Both games played really well on the Tabletop Simulator and I am really curious how they will look like. The art already looked great and it only could be better for real. My plan was to come back and try out their other games, Influentia and Monster Mansion, but I didn't make it back unfortunate. After Sumatra I had to head over to a Bonfire table I told earlier about in the Pegasus Spiele coverage.
